Objective:

The client is a local Ukrainian entrepreneur operating as a sole proprietor in the freight transportation industry. Their business focuses on connecting clients with drivers for moving goods across cities and regions.

The objective was to transform a traditional, phone-based freight transportation business into a fully digital, scalable platform — enabling customers to instantly find drivers, drivers to receive job offers in real time, and the business owner to manage operations with ease.

Our mission was to deliver a seamless, intuitive, and high-performing mobile experience that could handle the entire logistics process — from request creation to successful delivery — while setting the stage for rapid business growth.

Challenge:

When the client approached us, their entire workflow relied on phone calls and spreadsheets. This manual process caused delays, limited scalability, and created a frustrating experience for both customers and drivers.

We faced several complex challenges:

  • Reliable Phone Verification
Implementing stable SMS authentication across all major Ukrainian operators, ensuring a smooth onboarding process for users. Integrating a stable SMS-based verification flow for Ukrainian numbers required extensive testing across various mobile operators.
  • Smart Vehicle & Service Matching
Designing a robust logic system to connect job requests with suitable drivers based on vehicle type, load capacity, and service category.
  • Consistent Localization
Delivering a fully localized Ukrainian interface across Android and iOS without compromising design or user experience.
  • Live Geolocation & Routing
Integrating Google Maps for real-time vehicle tracking, optimized routing, and accurate delivery times.

We needed to ensure the platform was not just functional, but fast, intuitive, and ready to scale as the business expanded.

We solved these challenges through close collaboration between QA, mobile, and backend teams, frequent demos, and iterative feedback loops.

Solution:

We developed UMover — a mobile-first logistics platform with dedicated interfaces for both Clients and Drivers, supported by a powerful admin panel. The solution was built entirely from scratch, including UX/UI design.

.

For Clients

  • Create transportation requests in just a few taps.
  • Choose from multiple service types.
  • Track delivery status live on the map.
  • Communicate directly with assigned drivers.

For Drivers

  • Instantly browse available transportation requests.
  • Register and manage multiple vehicles.
  • Accept and manage jobs in real time.

For the Business Owner (Admin Panel)

  • Manage users, drivers, and orders in one place.
  • Create and update service categories.
  • Monitor business performance with clear, intuitive controls.

Technical Execution Highlights:

  • Native Mobile Development: Kotlin for Android and Swift for iOS, ensuring top performance and native feel.
  • Robust Backend: Node.js architecture with PostgreSQL for secure, structured data handling.
  • Modern Admin Interface: React + TypeScript for a responsive, maintainable UI.
  • Scalable Infrastructure: Hosted on AWS with integrated Google Maps API for location services and routing.

Through agile sprints, continuous testing, and close collaboration with the client, we refined every feature until it matched both the business goals and user expectations.

Technologies:

We’ve used the latest technologies:

  • Mobile Apps: Kotlin (Android), Swift (iOS)
  • Backend: Node.js
  • Database: PostgreSQL
  • Admin Panel: React + TypeScript
  • Infrastructure: AWS
  • APIs & Services: Google Maps API, SMS verification services
  • UI/UX

Results:

When UMover went live, the transformation was immediate.
What was once a messy web of phone calls, paper notes, and guesswork became a smooth, automated flow that connected customers and drivers in seconds.

A client who once had to explain their needs over multiple phone calls could now open the app, create a request in under a minute, and watch their driver approach in real time. No more waiting for call-backs. No more uncertainty about where their shipment was.

For drivers, jobs no longer came through sporadic calls that could be missed. Instead, opportunities appeared instantly on their screen, complete with route details, service requirements, and potential earnings. The system’s smart matching ensured that each request landed in front of the right driver, equipped with the right vehicle.

Behind the scenes, the business owner gained a control center that finally made the business manageable at scale. The admin panel offered a bird’s-eye view of every order, every driver, and every service type. Adjustments could be made in seconds, and performance metrics were always at hand.

From our developer’s perspective, the most rewarding outcome wasn’t just delivering a product — it was watching a small, local freight service evolve into a digital-first logistics operation with the tools to grow far beyond its original limits.

UMover is now more than just an app. It’s the backbone of the client’s business, a platform designed to handle the demands of today while being ready for the opportunities of tomorrow.
